On 26 June 2025, I had the opportunity to speak live for 10 minutes from the news room of Zoom News, one of the prominent media outlets in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. During the broadcast, I addressed a deeply alarming development: the mass arrest of over 100 activists, journalists, and teachers—a clear attempt to silence peaceful demonstrations.
As this crackdown unfolded in Kurdistan, Kurdish activists across the UK stood in solidarity. We organized coordinated protests in seven major British cities, drawing international attention to the ongoing repression.
As one of the organizers, I spoke out during the interview to condemn the actions of the KDP, PUK, and Baghdad authorities. I made it clear: these parties have turned public institutions into private companies, operating with no regard for public accountability or the suffering of ordinary people.
We are determined to hold them responsible on the global stage. We will not remain silent while they suppress voices, delay salaries for months, and criminalize dissent. We are united, and we will continue to raise our voices in every forum available to us.
